Default Images parsed in synopsis

On my site, it's quite often to have an image as the first (or near first) element in a review. As a result, enormous images are being displayed on the article list (forumdisplay).

Any ideas as to stopping it from doing this or even switching the synopsis display off?

Just use the synopsis box instead of letting it auto-parse the first x amount of characters from the thread.

But then I (or whoever posts) has to think!

I quite like the automated system and prefer having the synopsis box turned off so it autogenerates all the time, I was wondering if there was an easy modification that would enable me to just disable said parsing (or all parsing) and keep the synopsis block exactly that - unformatted synopsis.

Will take a look at teh code later if I get time and post my destructive findings

Not really. I see your point as it being much faster to do it without filling out the synopsis. But all I do is take the first chunk of text from the actual article and past it in there.

It takes another, three seconds to do?

I know what youre saying, however this gets a little tricky too. If I simply remove all of the bbcode (which seems to be the method people are leaning) then its STILL going to leave the URL for the image which is going to look pretty naff.

Ill be honest - I dont know the best option off the top of my head.

Nuts. I assume it's tricky to extend the parse_bbcode2 function without file edits to add a $stripimagecode condition.
