Default Is GARS the best solution for me?

Hi folks.

I run a music website, Sevenstring.org. On my forum I do a lot of reviews and tech/lesson articles, that right now I have as basic forum posts. I show the first post on each thread of the particular article. For example, an interview I did with the guys from the heavy metal band Meshuggah:

http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/art...meshuggah.html

It works, and it's nice because my members can all comment on the particular review or interview. However, it's sloppy, because I have to enable HTML for myself only and post the interviews using a lot of spans, divs and otherwise.

The upside is that I have vBAdvanced set to show a random thread from the review forum, so each time you refresh the main page of my site you get a different interview, which works out well. It's the one functionality that I really need to keep. I noticed that there are GARS addons for vBA, but I'm not sure if I can randomize them on the main page in the same way that I do now.

Other than that, I'd really like a much more professional looking/working system of organizing my articles than the way I do it now. So in a nutshell, things I need:

- Random article in vBA news block on front page
- Ability to comment on articles

Does anyone have a link to their site running GARS doing this? And in your opinion(s), would GARS work better for my site than the way I'm currently doing it?

Thanks very much!

- Chris

Gars will do exactly what you are looking for. I have Gars installed, but am not using VBA however, there is an add-on in the private section that will add a news block on the front page. eg. show random articles, featured articles, latest articles etc.

I'm sure others will be able to show you some examples, or just browse around, and view some peoples homepages.

Thanks for the replies!

I'd very much like to see a couple of examples of it being done, especially with vBA randomizing the content. I looked around in a few signatures here for links but didn't really see any.
