Geek Auto-Linker GAL automatically links keywords that users type in posts to advertising hover pop-ups.

Default GAL AJAX reads? Possible

Is it possible to integrate ajax read for GAL links?

What is it? When you hover over the link, instead of cashed pop-up it will read the text from database with ajax. I tend to use it for "larger" texts.

Here is an example of what I mean:

I think it is a new chalenge for GAL .
Thanks .-)

There is a prototype I have been working on for GAL 5x for this, however in all honesty, I dont think I will go down that route. The reason is that regardless of size of text, there is an odd delay while getting the info via ajax. The other reason is that you spend A LOT more resources doing this then simply getting the info at run time.

The path I am going down with 5.0 is to fetch a single copy of the text and to cache the results per page so that you minimize queries and overheads as well as increase response.

HTHs!

If you are examining AJAX integration, one thing I would love to see is a tabbed interface within a GARS thread. So for example a module could have 3 tabs showing custom fields (text or other) and the user could flip through them. It would really save space in the browser and might decrease initial load times for some larger articles/entries.

Also, I can imagine some really stellar browse/filter functions for a GARS forum. The open source frameworks are decent but I don't know the specifics of how to hook them into GARS.

Once I can get GAL 5.0 w/o the ajax done, I will look into adding an ajax option too - I just think that users will be somewhat dissapointed because of the delay in it appearing.

Interesting suggestions trana. Something worth looking into
