Default Pre-purchase importing question

Hey,

I was one of the masses who first installed and used John's v3articles, then upgraded to 3.5.0, found out that it wasn't going to get converted, so waited anxiously for Cinq's 3.5.x-compatible version of vBarticles, which obviously never arrived.

I'm very interested in GARS as a solution, and have heard a lot of talk about an importer, but any discussion of that here seems to be quite a few months old, and sort of nebulous in terms of whether or not the one that was coded for 3.0 works for 3.5.

It's pretty much all that's standing in the way of my ordering a copy of GARS, so just wanted to be clear about it before I take the leap. Is there such a creature, and has it been used successfully in the past?

To be honest, there are no current plans to devlop an importer simply because most people have now migrated to a new solution (GARS or whatever). In fact, I think its been 5 or 6 months since I was even asked.

How many articles do you have?

A couple dozen, I'd guess. Yeah, I'm definitely late to the party. Been ill, and I'm well behind on my work.

There may be a solution for this but it may require some work from you. You can manually open a thread for each article and if the article is submitted by another user you can open the thread by others users name.

I'm not sure I follow , unfortunately, but I'm intrigued. One issue is that the articles lay dormant in the database, and have for over a year. I don't recall what they were named, what their id#s were, or even who posted them. Would I need to have that info?

I just don't want to lose them, as there was some fantastic stuff in there.

Well, bought GARS (and GAL , for that matter), and trying to figure out now how to salvage all the old data. Nice products, been impressed with both right from the start.
