Default Modules: Which should i cache, which not

Hi,

in the Settings you can choose the options if to cache a module or if not.
But i am a little bit unsure if i should cache everyone, or just some few.

So could you give me a hint, which have to be cached, and which better not?

And what means "on edit" or "on comment"?

Thank you very much!

Sure, the module itself HAS to utilize the cache for the setting to be of any use.

The 2 modules that currently use the cache are top.php and featured.php

The settings for those are totally dependant on how active your GARRED forums are and how you want to control queries.

Cache on newthread - resets the cache for the chosen module so that next time its called, it has to re-fetch the data (generally causing a query). Useful for Latest articles top modules and featured modules

Cache on new comment - resets the cache for the module so that if somone replies then next time the module is called, it has to requery. This is useful for Most active top modules.

Cache on cron. Basically relies on the GARS cron job to reset the cache on schedule. Useful for momst read top module, and to do a general 'tidy up' of all other data.

Hope this helps
