Default Combining VBA Links and GARS

VBA Links has a great custom field creation system and search integration. GARS has a great review system.

Has anyone ever combined the two?

Is this something where a simple module with a link from the directory inside it could be made and added to GARS? Or is it much more complex than that?

I suppose a module would do what you're after - it just depends exactly what you're trying to accomplish!

I have created a bunch of links in vblinks. All I want to do is display thier content in the content area (like the forum display default in GARS) so that they can be reviewed.

Basically it is the same thing as the current vb forums setup except GARS would be wrapped around vblinks instead of vb forums.

I'm sure it can be done. I am just wondering if it is a simple template change or if I need to reassign some php files. Or if it will require some heavy custom php work.

I'm basically just weighing my options as to if I want to try to do it myself or if I should hire someone else do it.

Hmmm. Actually that would be pretty difficult.

For GARS to sit on top of vbaLinks - it would require a rewrite

I actually figured out a crude workaround. I create the custom fields in vbalinks and import the data via a MySQl bulk upload. Then I copy and paste the vbalinks table from the web interface into the bb code in GARS, which creates a nice neat display in GARS. I delete some of the unecessary fields from the table and then use GALS to create cross referencing searches among my data. I'm using the LITE version right now, but will be upgrading this weekend. Overall, to the end user it looks and acts like some pretty professionally coded stuff (thanks to the Geek!). Everything is searchable from the same place as the forums, categorized in nice neat fields and able to be reviewed on multiple levels. The only problem is the importing is a bit wonky, but that's okay as I am keeping a tight grip on the data management for this part of my site. Also I am not able to custom search my fields exactly the way I would like, but nothing is perfect, right? When I move it live I'll show ya'll the end product.
