Smile Member Review System?

How would I setup reviews of members by members. With links back and forth on memberinfo?

You mean create a forum where members can write and rate other members?

Yes, yes exactly what I need. Is it possible? Maybe a idea how to go about that or some tips for me to get started.

Thanks very much, Mike

How about just creating a new forum called member reviews and then assign a Review type to it.

You could easily edit the default rating set that comes with GARS or create a new one and assign it to your review type. Im not sure what other things you would be thinking of.

With some minor custom coding you could duplicate it or use a combination of custom fields and minor template tweaking to achieve a similar result

Where and how do we start? I can do custom fields and template tweaking. If I have to, I can manually create a GAR forum for each member or maybe state or phone area code (602).

My suggestion would be to do a forum... then about 10 subforums for region. Once content builds up, split it into state, then after that, into county.

If you are looking for a rating of 1-10 like in the example above, it may be best just to make those custom fields instead of using the rating system just because it would be easier to shouw on the threadbit... saying that, the rating system is the way forward if you want OTHERS to rate. In which case it will be harder to break up the components of the rating for display on the threadbit. Personally, I think the way the rating is now is sufficient (its displayed as an overall).

Thank you very much. I will start on my work today. When I run into speedbumps in my knowledge can I pay for some help? I don't know the compensation mechanism for custom coding.

Thanks again, Mike

Feel free to ask away. There are several people with plenty of GARS experience on the forums that would most likely help you with custom work. You could also try vb.org for custom work as a lot of GARS users only bob round for updates and troubleshooting.

Ill give pointers when I can, however my focus is on the core range, not on customizations.
