Default Problem when editing: fields reset

Hi,

I have a weird problem. When editing (full edit, not quick edit) a gars article, the Title, custom fields, Ratings are resetted and I have to input them all over again.

Any ideas?

Please post a test in this forum and then edit it. Do you have the same problem? If not, then it could be something that was already fixed and applied to the download package.

No, here I can edit just fine. I downloaded and upgraded, but I still have the same problem.

Hmm, not sure, try reFTPing all the GARS PHP files again, making sure they overwrite the files on the server. Maybe an old file didn't get overwritten. Also check whether the following templates were edited from their originals, and if so, take a backup of your edits and revert the templates:
  • GARS_ratings
  • GARS_rating_bit
Then try posting a new thread on your site and see what happens when you edit it.

Same results. Custom fields and ratings get resetted.

Did you re-import the product-gars.xml file via the ACP? Do not uninstall, do allow overwrite. What version of GARS are you using? The most recent version is currently 2.1.9, last updated August 12, 2008.

Yes I re-imported the latest version but still no change.

Could it be that I go through quick edit first , then full editor? I can't think of anything else really.

Not sure, what happens if you go directly to the full editor?

Damn, that was it. I disabled quick edit from main vbulletin options, and now (when you click edit post it takes you to full editor) it works.

Does this give you any clue of the problem? I don't want to disable globally my quickedit.

Edit: I noticed here that you have quickedit on your forums but in the gars articles, when you click Edit you go directly to the full editor. How did you do that?

For the 'First post in showthread' setting in the template set (ACP -> GARS -> Templates), GARS defaults to the GARS_pb template, which uses the following for the edit button:
Code:
<a href="$post[editlink]"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/edit.gif" alt="$vbphrase[edit_delete_message]" border="0" /></a>
Quick edit doesn't pass GARS information, so you can try switching 'First post in showthread' to something else, or try removing the name="vB::QuickEdit::postID" bit from whatever template you are using for the first post in the thread.
