Sort reviews/articles into categories?
Im new to the system. Would like to ask if it is possible to sort reviews/articles into Gadgets, Services, Food etc? Then users can click on each individual category to find their review, or search via category?

The GARS -> Types -> click a type -> Default Sort Order lets you change the order based on title, author rating, or member rating, but you might try using GARS -> Modules -> click a module set -> tick Forumdisplay -> add the Filter module, which is based on a 'Select box' custom field where you set the options.

After adding a 'Select box' custom field, go to Modules, pick the module of interest, add Custom Fields where you want them to show, click the Custom Fields link that appears afterwards, select Yes to those custom fields of interest, save, and then go to Types, pick the modules set, and tick the custom fields you want. Also tick the 'allow to filter by this field' box. Save.

Hi Morgan, it doesnt seem to work. Do you mind helping me do a
test
? I could pm you a temporary admincp username and password. Thanks.
What happens is that when I type an article/review, I am able to choose this field Personal Finance, Health, Lifestyle. However how do users choose the articles/reviews that are in these categories? Meaning to say when the user clicks on Personal Finance, articles in this group appear? Last edited by nuvar; 03-28-2008 at 08:09 PM.. |

You need to use the Filter module, and then it'll appear similar to the filter on this page.
Go to the ACP -> GARS -> Modules -> click the appropriate module set -> tick Forumdisplay -> add the Filter module, and then click the Filter link, and tick the yes box next to the custom field you set with the Personal Finance, Health, and Lifestyle options.

I just fixed this on my Article Forum and i wonder if its possible to have it as links under each other instead of a Select box?
i Mean its links instead like this: Category 1 Category 2 Category 3 and i press 1 of them instead. Last edited by John3971; 04-01-2008 at 06:41 PM.. |

Nope, the only option that works with the filter is the select box. There is a related thread here that might be of interest to you.

Thanks Morgan, managed to do it.
However, I would like to ask something else: If you go to my site at http://lifecope.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10#post11 You will realise the forum links (Life on the net) is being displayed. I wonder how do I off this option? |
