I think I understand what you mean. That white space is the break between the alphabar and forumdisplay, so if you look for ( in the 'GARS_forumdisplay' template)
Code:
<body>
$header
$navbar
<if condition="$show['alphabar']">
        <table width="100%" align="center" class="tborder" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]">
        <tr align="center">
                $show[alphabar]
        </tr>
    </table>
    <br /> this is that white space
</if>
<if condition="$show['forumslist'] && !$show['nosubs']">
<!-- sub-forum list  -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center" style="border-bottom-width:0px">
<tr>
Problem is that it will almost certainly throw the table formatting out of sync and potentially cause problems. All I can suggest is if you have vB/GARS installed locally (as in testbed), experiment!

last time I tried something like that the content I added there doubled the white space above and below that content
Thinking back, it may well have been the theme I was using.

I just installed the Link Directory and for some reason when adding a new site I keep getting the error message:

Quote:
The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
  1. You did not specify a username for your post.
Any ideas? HELP!
Thanx,

Jacquii.

Sounds like a hack conflict. Can you disable other hacks you have and see if the problem persists?

Well I have so many modifications installed.... Is there any particular hack that you know of could possibly cause this issue? Or possibly the Link Directory settings

Not really... I thought most were fine however a couple in the past had bugs that sniped the username from GARS during processing. I think there was a problem with the AOE but I think that was fixed on their side

Hmmm - that's odd - Now since I've added the Link Directory (vB 3.5.6) All pages with GARS have the same message when posting:

Quote:

EDITED:

Hey GEEK - it was indeed the Adv. Editing Options For Admins & Mods hack that was causing the conflict... Any work-around so that both modifications can be used?

Thanx,

Jacquii.
