Feature Begin Date
I have a project that would ideally let me schedule when to start featuring the article.
Has anyone done this? Is there an easy way to accomplish it? |

Looking at this, I see its not hard to fix the 'display feature' code.... Its more of getting begin date into the database in the first place.
I searched the gars file for 'feature_until' and came up with 19 instances, in 7 files. I am hoping someone with more experience can take a stab at it for me. :-) If not..... I will have to hack it up and go to town! |

Nope, the feature until bit is based on whether the feature until date is later than TIMENOW and if so the featured bit is displayed.

I understand that much. What I was asking, is could a feature begin date be added to the GARS system, and check to see if TIMENOW is between the dates.
Like I said, I can see where to adjust the feature code to check it. I just dont really know how to go about adding the new date field to the form/DB |

Yes, I suppose it could be done, but sorry, this is something you would need to undertake. Custom coding really falls outside the realm of support and is not typically offered, especially for larger requests.

Ok.... I guess I was asking as more of a 'feature request' as I am sure others would love to use it.
If I have to do it myself, thats not a problem, I will just need some help understanding some of the code where I will have to make some edits. Granted, I am sure, I could probably use a custom field, and just modify the 'feature' block to use that data... I just want a more elegant setup, and would prefer to have it in the code proper. |
