Geek Article and Review System License Holder
Default GARS question

I just purchased the full version today, and ran the install. On vbulletin.og, they are saying that there is an importer for v3 Articles. If there is, i couldn't find it. I have alot of article's that are in v3 and would love to retrieve them. Right now i can't access them at all.

Also, i installed this program and the other program i had was called GAS. So now i have a GAS file and a GARS file. Is this right? How was i supposed to import the articles that were in the GAS system?

Like i say, i do have the GARS in my website now i believe. Not sure how to get to it, but when i go to my server, i can pull up the new GARS system.

Thanks the geek, look forward to your assistance.............doug (hotwheels)

I could really really really use that importer.........really

Hey Doug,

There was an importer for v3articles into GAS, but not for GARS.
Now, technically... you should be able to run the importer while you are still in 3.0.x and it will essentially turn all of your v2 articles into threads in whatever forum you set however it sounds a bit late for that now :P

You CAN import your GAS items, however it takes a bit of manual farffing with. Most users havent bothered because all you really lose is the header images and bylines as the text is all nothing more than a thread and posts.

Im working on the final leg of GARS, ill see if I can add a GAS importer too - but cant promise anything as I am just finishing up the physical files now. All I really have left is the friggin readme and its gold baby

I meant that I would look at making one for GAS to GARS

To go from v3articles to GARS will be a much bigger project

Have you looked at the importer? There is a good chance it would work. There was also a cool rollback facility I wrote with it so it should be pretty safe - but alas Im in no position to test it out nor to look under the hood now.

Just a thought

Hey Doug, check the GAS thread on .org - its on there.

However saying that - it may use the golablize function and the old $DB_site variable which wont work in vb3.5x - ill tinker with it when I get a minute if you need it
