Default Anyway to automate the template creation?

OK, I am working on a customized GARS forum, sort of a classifieds system but very specific to one of my sites.

Can anyone recommend an easy way to duplicate the templates needed for forumdisplay and threads? It seems like there are a lot of them that all need to be customized in order to make it look good, so is there any easy way to copy them?

For example, if I capture three new fields in the create/edit process, how can I display them in the forumdisplay template? I need to strip out all the extra existing formatting to make it look smaller and neater. Is there an easier way to do this? It seems very manual at this point.

Thanks!

Just copy the GARS_threadbit template and tweak that how you want (depending on how you tweak it, you may need to tweak GARS_forumdisplay too.

THen create a new template set that use your new tweaked templates.

Cool, I thought I would have to recreate a lot more templates, but I just used some of the existing ones that didn't need to be touched.

How can I remove the byline/synopsis from the create/edit template? I tried the option in the "Types" section, but that doesn't seem to work.

Actually, how do I customize the create/edit template for a specific forum/moduleset? I want to remove a lot of extra stuff, like posticons, post as, post a poll, etc. Also, I want to make the create/edit process more manageable by putting the remaining options closer together so people don't have to fill out a big form.

Thanks!
