I also am in need of this now we have moved to 3.6. I've been paying for a particular script for 3 years running now and haven't had a single feature added. My license has expired, but I don't plan to renew (what a waste of branding free!). The main feature I would look for, if at all possible, is a script to move my Links from vBa Link Directory into new threads in designated forums. Your directory itself looks just great as-is.

It seems that vBa today released the 3.6 version. Not such a huge rush for change now then.

For the directories, I would suggest creating everything from scratch via the ratings, types, modules, terms, custom fields etc. in the admincp. It takes a bit getting used to, but in the end the way the admin setup is it's very intuitive. Once that is all ready, you'll need to export your current links directory data to an xls heet from phpmyadmin. Then you'll need to find the vbulletin thread and post tables, and GARS custom fields table and export those tables in XLS format. Then take the vba data and copy and paste into the related tables in the vb thread, post and GARS cf. Then reimport into you mysql database and you should have all your info in there. Finally you update all your counters and things should fall in place. You may need to manually edit view counts if that is important to you. I'd say it is about a weekends worth of work. My description is very high level, every case is slightly different so I suggest you play around with the data on a dev machine to make sure things work. The best part about it is that you can run your current vba while you set up GARS. Also, GARS has alot more capabilites than just a links directory. |

The new directory ability is nothing more than a new module, some new templates and new sets.
I have created a new import/export system for GARS that will allow you to create thinkgs like the install system and the links directory just by uploading an xml file. We should see this by next week |
