Im still confused. Did you check your error log to see if anything appears? By releases, do you mean the release add on here?

I'll try to clear things up.

I'm using a built in add-on called "Releases"

I want to use it so users can upload hacks and stuff like you see at so many sites now

Here is a SS where I found the setting.

Thank you for your patients

ps, I want to set several forums that are setup already, as this "releases"
but I wanted to make a new forum section to test it right now.

Did you try re-importing the add on? Did you also make certain that ALL of the release files were uploaded?

What happens if you assign another type to that forum?

where can I get the releases addon ? I'll try re-uploading.
I never added it to start, I thought it was built in.

and yes, I can make the forum a link directory, review or any other the other add-ons that are currently running.

cheers

I have updates the package to 2.1.7c to address all open issues. These issues primarily centred around custom field problems.

Follow the upgrade steps outlined in the first post, but note that if you are upgrading from 2.1.7b, there are no template changes so you dont have to re-import your product-xml. Just replace the files.
