Default GeekMart Beta 5.0 Release Discussion

This thread is to discuss the release of GeekMart Beta 5.0 for vB.5x for specific bugs, post a support ticket or create a new thread in the troubleshooting forum.

I have finally had some time to sit down and clean up some rather pesky bugs in the last Beta and I am pleased to say that its looking much more like the finished project (though I still caution that it IS a beta!).

It is IMPERATIVE that you follow the upgrade instructions in the readme to the letter as I have changed some specific things that will require a couple of tweaks to previous installs.

One problem with earlier versions is that international versions would Konk out if your language set used a , for a decimal place. I have fixed that however it has caused me to have to change the way prices (and postage) are entered into the system.
Instead of entering 2.95 as a price, you must now enter 295. Instead of 197.50 you enter 19750. Yes, a bit odd... but it now works for all
This change requires you to run an additional upgrade step for previous users. This step will change all prices to the new version EXCEPT for vendor shipping prices. For that, you will need to edit each vendor profile by hand and change all prices to the new format (takes 2 seconds).

A couple other items:
  • I have added the ability for you to upload images and resize them (if you have gdi support) for categories, items and products.
  • I have also cleaned up the admincp UI a bit
  • I have fixed a hed load of existing bugs
If upgrading, I CANT STRESS ENOUGH that you follow the readme upgrade steps to the letter!

Just a quick question, you jumped from 1.0B4 to 5.0 or is it a typo? =)

Depends on if its a 'stock' controllable item as that isnt plugged in yet. The last beta of GM has taken leaps forward in stability, however its still a little ways off.

Its up to you in the end I would love more help on the bug squashing front

Has anyone upgraded yet from beta 4? That is my plan this weekend, but I was just curious if anyone one else had tried yet.

Does it overwrite all your settings like previously? If not, I can have at it sooner, but if it does I will need to wait until I have more time.
