Geek I've got a favour to ask...
Any idea how I can have a custom field with a string, which is then parsed as a particular BB Code in a template?
I'm using the AnyMedia hack, which is a BB Code that will play media files from website URL's. I want the custom field to contain the URL to be encased in [media] tags, so it will parse within a specified GARS template. If you could hed some light I'd wet myself. Thanks! PS: Hope the holiday was good! Last edited by Fleabag; 08-17-2006 at 02:36 PM.. |

Thanks Flea, it was sweet.
how would they point out where it should go in the post? IE do they just enter [here] and you want to replace the instance of [here] with the media code? You would most likely be better suited whipping up a basic module since you will most likely need some processing with it. |

It would appear in a set place, and not in a user specified area, unlike the attachment option.

I think a module would be the best and fastest option to create. Have you made any before?

I haven't no! I didn't realise it would be a complex job. I don't want to trouble you, I'll start reading up on PHP or failing that put up a paid request in a little while.

er.... I kind of got caught up in the freakiness of updating to RC4
Quick question though... would it look/act kind of like the www button on a Link Directory page? If so, its a quick template and a custom field. |

That would be fine, yes! I can customise it from there. The idea is though that I'm going to edit the template so one of the module positions is in the centre bottom of the post bit - so there's the info above and the media file below. It will just be parsing the BB code [media] tag.
