Show article contents to registered users only ?
I'd like to be able to have articles available for registered users only - but still show a reasonably lengthy synopsis for all users (mostly so search engines pick up the article titles / descriptions).
Is there an elegant way to do this in GARS ? I think I would want it to get to the "showthread" page without showing an error, and provide enough info for search engines to index that page and for users to get a good feel for what the article is about ... but not see the rest of the article unless they register. Most of my articles are fairly long, so they would be multiple pages in length. Something like showing just the first page with a detailed synopsis on it and requiring registration to see subsequent pages, would be ideal. Is this possible ? (minor hacking is okay if required). |

Sure, but it would require additional hacking. Your best bet is to enforce multiple pages and hack it so that there is a permission check on any page greater than 1
