Default GAl can run outside vbulletin?

Hi;

I'm very interested with this script. But i just wonder can i use it not only inside the vbulletin board?

I mean can i configure it in order show up the keyword link outside the vbulletin posts; such as my blog or whatever?

Thank you very much.

4.x can be configured to do this as long as the external page calls vBulletins global file.

the current beta of 5x does not support this, however the upcoming 6.x will support this if the external script uses vBulletins bbcode.

HTHs!

Any script which uses vB's bbcode tags (i.e. [img] tags). GAL 6.x automatically parses new posts (and edited posts) and marks the text up with bbcode. The user doesnt have to put the tags in, gal does that automatically. So any script that uses bbcode (posts, signatures, etc...) will also get ' gal 'ed so to speak.

wow its great.

But one last question please (i know i'm annoying )

For example: I have 2 sites on the same server; one is using Vbulletin , one is another script but they also have BBCODE such as IMG tag.

So is it possible for GAL parse that script too? Of course i mean will need to add some script or configure whatever.

Thanks again.

If it hooks into vbulletin (i.e. it used vBulletins bbcode parser) then it should. Saying that I am looking into GAL 6 having a module type system for extending where the parsing takes place.
The reason being that GAL needs to keep track of WHERE it is getting used so that it can rebuild the bbcode when needed (i.e. admin changes a keyword) and so that if GAL is uninstalled, it can clean up after itself. So far I am looking at restricting the parsing to posts and most likely signatures (optionally), however if I can get my head around a modular system then I will

Sorry for babbling. Ive just been mulling this about in my head for the last week and finally found someone I can spout off too

Do you mean, why dont I host an ad server? THere are already plenty of those. GAL will do that, but allow YOU to create and host the words as well as create words that may not be ads, but still good to link (i.,e. definitions, etc )

Yeah..

What i mean, GAL is an ad server standalone. So it allows you to manage advertise by linking dynamic words on your sites blah blah...

But when will is that version come out?

TIme will tell
