Default Interested in GARS... but

Hi guys hearing very good comments on GARS and am considering purchasing it however so far I've not been able to see any examples of it in action.

We run a PDA based site offering news and reviews to our readership - using vBadvanced as a front end at the moment.

Examples therefore needed to see if GARS would suit us and prove useful.

Looking forward to any tips / advice.

Cheers

Not particularly... GARS is a pretty massive add on and allows you to tweak your forums into so many ways that it would be impossible to create a definitive list of what can be achieved

If you check out the documentation wiki, it will give you an idea.

HTHs!

Okay read through the Wiki and am a bit wiser

Long and short of it though we'll be looking to achieve:

- Integrate with vBadvanced for publishing news and reviews
- Be able to pick posts from various Reviews forums for posting in vBA
- Be able to pick news posts from various forums for posting in vBA
- Gain ability for the article editor to add a header image for headlining the article within vBa
- Avoid complex template edits which will make it difficult to upgrade vB
- Gain an imporved editor with decent formating (image justifying, tables, etc)
- Global integration within vB for navigation, etc, without the pain of vBa taking control of templates and damaging the underlying code.
- Initially GARS adn it to have no impact on the forum/vBadvance structure at all until configured to do so.

So can any of this be achieved?

Sure, there is a free addon for vba which should achieve most of what youre after as far as integration.
You shouldnt need any template edits, anything you can do in vB (bbcode, attachments, usergroup permissions, etc...) are all there.

So in a nut hell I would say yes
