Default Afraid of doing the upgrade! (2.1.8m)

Hi there,

Now that another upgrade of our favourite article-system has finally arrived, I must admit that I'm really afraid of the installation.

Why? Because everytime I did an upgrade in the past, I always lost my custom phrases and term sets and had to manually recreate them in an arduous effort.

Yes, I did export my language-files and I also tried to re-import them after the new version had been installed. To no avail!

So, can someone please give a bulletproof step-by-step description of how to do it right? I'd really love to upgrade, but I'm not keen on re-typing loads of term sets manually.

Thank you!

See here for upgrade instructions and please note the following comment:

Your custom templates and phrases for GARS add ons (i.e. the link directory and/or the release add on) will get wiped out. After upgrading you will need to use the GARS importer to re-import the add ons (making sure you choose the option to import phrases.templates only).
One idea would be to use Import/Export to export your terms before you upgrade, and then use Import/Export to import your terms after you upgrade, should your terms disappear. Here's hoping things don't blow up.

Alrighty, it worked like a charm. I simply re-imported my term-sets and everything was fine and up-to-date in about 10 Minutes. Thanks!
