What about the forum ABOVE a forum?
I have a number of science news categories, all GARSed up.
But My "Science News" page looks just like a normal forum. Only when I get down to the next level do the nice GARS templates kick in. I tried to create a type called "Article section" for this but it had absolutely no effect whatsoever. I made sure it was set to be a "forumdisplay" section. It threw this error at me: Code:
Database error in vBulletin 3.5.3: Invalid SQL: SELECT t.threadid, t.title, u.username, t.forumid FROM vb_thread t INNER JOIN vb_user u ON t.postuserid = u.userid WHERE t.forumid in (-1,35) AND t.threadid IN (-1,6374,6384,6333,6379,6375,6338) ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 0,; MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 Error Number : 1064 Date : Sunday, April 30th 2006 @ 04:02:33 PM Script : http://forums.hypography.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 Referrer : http://forums.hypography.com/technology-news.html IP Address : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Username : Tormod Classname : vb_database

Uhm, sorry, the link:
http://forums.hypography.com/science-news.html All the categories below it behave nicely, but this one just looks like a forum. I want it to look like a News Portal.

Check the module settings. That is from either the topx or featured module NOT having a value in the LIMIT field.

The error is gone but I can't make the page change from a standard forumdisplay page. Is that because there is no content in it? Or because it's set to not act as a forum? All my news folders reside directly below this one.

Its been garred. Notice the misspelling of sub-categorys? Its just that the rest of the data is pretty default I guess

I am selecting "Forumdisplay" in the module and adding the top item, and limiting it to 10. I set it to pull from same type of categories. I set the forum to use this module in the settings. But absolutely nothing is shown. Why?

If I recall correctly, they wont show if there are no threads. If there are no threads, it looks wacky to have side columns (as there isnt anything in between).
This was designed this way so that you could create just sub-categories. |

Tried to move the top block to the right side...no change.

Maybe I should find a way to design a cool look for a news front, then. Can this be done via a template?
