Default Forumdisplay template does not show proper ratings

I have had this problem with GARS since 2.x, The Geek couldn't figure it out, and now I'm back to troubleshooting it again.

I just upgraded to 2.1.8m, ran all the tools and reverted all GARS templates.

Basically, on my forumdisplay page, where all the articles are, the ratings all show as 5 stars, despite users rating the articles less than perfect.

Where do I start troubleshooting this?

Thanks!

On this page there is a 5-star rating and 2-star rating. What happens if you rate one of the threads on that page? Under ACP -> GARS -> Templates, what template are you using for threadbit? Is it GARS_threadbit? Do you have any other add-ons that change the $thread[rating] variable?

The templates are the defaults (GARS_threadbit).

I do not have any other mods that change the thread[rating], but now I am curious, the rating displayed on the forumdisplay page should show an average rating for the article, not the way the user rated the thread (using the default VB system) right? In fact, I do not even see a way to rate the thread with the basic VB system.

Is this right?

The stars on forumdisplay here are from the 'Rate Thread' drop down menu that appears just above the first post in a thread, unless you mean here instead, in which case $thread[author_rating] and $thread[member_rating] are used instead of the $thread[rating] variable, where author_rating and member_rating are pulled from the gars table via the GARS Forum Display Query plugin:
Code:
round((ga.overall_rating/10),0) author_rating
round((ga.avg_rating/10),0) member_rating

Ahh, I want to use the one from the second link you provided, which is actually an average of the user ratings. So I can just put $thread[member_rating] into the template?

No, that isn't going to do anything, as it's the same template. Instead, go to the ACP -> GARS -> Types, and for the Reviews type (or whatever type you are using for the reviews) set the following options to yes:
  • Display the reply count in threadbit
  • Display the view count in threadbit
  • Display the authors rating in threadbit
  • Display the members rating in threadbit
  • Display preview/synopsis in threadbit

Those are all enabled and the ratings are still not displayed properly.

What else can I check?

Note sure, try the Re-Sync Ratings option under Tools via the ACP.

What happens if you make a new thread in the GARS related forum and rate it? Also what happens if you rate a thread that is currently in the GARS related forum? The other thing to double check is post six, making sure those options are set for all types.
