Would it work well for my site?
Ok, this is what I want to do. I have a site dedicated to gaming on the old school nintendo.
I already have a button that says "games" in my header and what I want to do is have that linked to a page where it shows the newest updates to games I've been adding information to. I also want a section where you can click a letter which then shows a list of the games by that letter. Then of course I want a user to be able to select that letter and go to a game page. On a game page I want to provide some general information about the game in the center column... on the left column, I'd like to be able to use modules from vba cmps (or create the modules in GARS and do it that way) Then underneath the center column I want to be able to show some screen shots of both the cartridge, the box and instruction manual. On the right side... I want to be able to have a module that is a download link to an nsf sound file (it's basically this really small file that has all of the games music on it which can then be played)... then I want another module that has game genie cheats in it, and then I want an even other module with a link to the game walk through. Ok, now I know that's a lot of stuff, but is this possible with GARS or do you recommend me manually creating hundreds and hundreds of cmps modules for each and every game to create the effect I'm going after above? |

Well, this is tough.
I would like to do an alpha list module - but just dont have time so you would need a custom solution there. You can create a module that holds: 1- link to your sound file 2- link to manual 3- link to cheats Then when you create your 'game' page, you can simply enter those in with the title, etc... This is actually very easy to do and would only require 1 module. For image shots, use vB's inline attachment feature Think that about covers it all Let me know if this helps |

About your suggestions though, is that stuff that can be easily done? Keep in mind, my knowledge is fairly limited. Thanks in advance. I'll post the site soon. |

naaa, wasnt a joke - I was just thinking aloud and typing as I was going along. In the end it really depends. A solution outlining what I suggested isnt hard, however it still requiressome customizing of modules and in the end it may or may not be what youre after

All I'm trying to do is create 768 game pages with everything about the game including screen shots, cheat codes, etc heh.
I'd even like to be able to have a section within those game pages where you could click the game and add it to a spot where you could show your collection. (This feature isn't as necessary as the above ones though). |

Ok, well
lol
maybe I'll just buy gars and see what I can do with it
lol
.
Is it possible to make only myself able to create "game" pages. I assume you can set permissions for gars via usergroups. I'm interested to use your system, hopefully it can work for me. I just have no idea how else I can create a games page. Is there a way to have a module for VBA cmps that shows the most recently added "games" or GARS items added? This way on my index people can see which games start getting added etc. Whew this is going to be tough to do what I want to do. That's part of why I haven't purchased it yet. It just seems like it's going to be so overwhelming lol . |

There are a couple vba modules about, however I havent used them yet. I dont think it will be as massive of a deal as you think. Some specialist things you want may not come with gars out of the box, however I think that you will find GARS to be one of the most versatile scripts out for vb.

Ok, I think I'll have a go at it. I'll buy it after I pay tuition this Friday heh. And I suppose if I have questions etc I can ask here.
Also, I think I've asked this before, but what does HTH mean? (head to the hills?) |
