Default Urgent: GARS and GAB-Settings simply vanished from Admin-CP

Hi there, I'm in trouble it seems, for my GARS and GAB -Settings all of a sudden completely vanished from my AdminCP.

I didn't do anything special, but uploading imagefiles to the standard vbDirectories. The system is still working, so I'm pretty sure, I didn't accidentally delete anything. How can this happen and - much more important - how can I get my settings back?! I need to get access fast, because I'm in the middle of a major upgrade.

Thanks!!

Hello?! This is urgent, please... I can't configure anything related to GAB , GARS for no obvious reason. What could be the reason and how do I fix this?!

When you say GARS and GAB settings, do you mean the sidebar menus in the ACP? If so, check that the cpnav_gars.xml and cpnav_gab.xml files are in the /forum/includes/xml directory, and just so you know, if you bump your thread, it winds up putting your inquiry later in the to-be-answered queue, so best not to bump.

Yes, exactly. But both files still reside in the correct directory. Could this be related to the new style I designed? I mean, maybe there are some essential templates missing?

Thanks a lot!

Hmm, I don't see what a new skin/style would have to do with the ACP sidebar menus. If the cpnav_whatever.xml files reside in the /forum/includes/xml directory, it is vB that displays them, with the code found after the following line in the vB /forum/admincp/index.php file:
Code:
// ################################ NAVIGATION FRAME #############################
One thing you could try is to take the @ off the following line in the /forum/admincp/index.php file and see if any message is printed on screen:
Code:
	if ($handle = @opendir(DIR . '/includes/xml/'))

I just deleted the @ as you advised, but nothing was printed on screen. I don't understand, how this could happen. I wasn't even configuring anything related to GARS or GAB . Very very strange!

Another thing to check is whether the member account you are using on your board has 'Can Administer GARS' and 'Can Administer Settings' permissions via the ACP -> Usergroups -> Administrator Permissions -> Edit Permissions.

Yes, I have full administration rights and I'm using my admin-account. Just an idea from a coding-layman, but could re-importing the GARS product work? I'm running out of ideas.

Now, it seems I was a little too fast with my last reply. In fact I did not have the right to administer GAB , which somehow resulted in GARS's settings not showing up either.

Wow, I'm really happy now! Thanks for your support!
