Default prevent users from posting - permissions

Hi there,

I want to prevent users from posting in some of my GARSed forums, but no matter what Usergroup Permissions I set, they can still post new topics.

Even if I grant no rights to the whole user-group at all, new entries can be submitted.

How can I achive, that some forums are read-only? My site design depends heavily on that functionality! So please, someone help!

So even guests can write content? If you change that forum back to a normal forum people can still post?

GARS doesnt touch usergroup permissions?

No. I do not want guests to write anything at all. Registered users on the other, should be able to post comments only, not to start new threads in the article section.

When I set the whole forum to be closed, even the administrator can't post, which is pretty impractical. So, does GARS touch user permissions in any way?

Thanks!

No, GARS doesnt touch user permissions - that is all handled via vB.

Based on what you are saying, guests would be able to post. Is that so?
Also, if you set that forum to be non-gars... does that make a difference?

Sorry, I was not talking about guests, but registered users. Guests are not able to post anything at all, but registered users are.

I want them to be able to post only comments, not start whole new threads and I thought, GARS could handle the permissions for itself.

One of the great assets about GARS is that vB handles all permissions, context handling, etc...
You should be able to adjust the forums settings (i.e. usegroup can not create threads but can comment) via that forums permission setting.
