This particular module does not have any non-standard settings that can be configured. For the News module which comes with CMPS, at the bottom of the module settings page there are options to specify the source forum and a few other formatting details. This particular module (featured articles) has NO options of this sort when installed, so everything must be done in the code. The template that calls the code is:
Code:
<tr><td class="$show[tdclass]">
$bits
</td></tr>
So you can't even control it there either. The best thing I can think of is to change the SELECT to only pull from a specific forum # but I have never tried to do this before.

this is the line you want to change
PHP Code:
$results $db->query_read"SELECT byline, header_image, threadid FROM " TABLE_PREFIX "gars WHERE feature_untill > " TIMENOW " ORDER BY RAND()");
to
PHP Code:
$results $db->query_read"SELECT byline, header_image, threadid FROM " TABLE_PREFIX "gars WHERE AND threadid in (1,2,3,4) feature_untill > " TIMENOW " ORDER BY RAND()");

Note the 1,2,3,4 those are your forumids

OK, that caused my site to blow up, white page with a DB error.

Can you take another look at it? Should it really be

"gars WHERE AND threadid in (1,2,3,4) feature_untill > "

Why is that threadid and not a forumid? Is that really supposed to be feature_untill (typo?)?

I posted on the CMPS module thread about the possibility of having this module only query from a specific forum ID. This sounds like it would be easy to do but I haven't been able to get it to work. If anyone can help figure that out, it makes this point moot as your solutions would work perfectly, a holding forum for unfinished articles.

Thanks!
Don't understand why you don't put the post in a non articles/tutorials/preview forum what is only accessible by admins?

I dont know what would cause an error there. Yes, it should be forumids, however GARS doesnt store forumids. Give me this afternoon to look at the code again.

Thanks
