To use GARS custom fields...
  • Set up a custom field via the ACP -> GARS -> Custom Fields
  • Add the custom fields module via the ACP -> GARS -> Modules
  • Set the custom fields options by clicking the Custom Fields link
  • Tick the custom fields to use via the ACP -> GARS -> Types
Then when you go to post, the drop down menu is available, and when viewing the article, there will be a box with the selected value on screen in whatever position you chose to display the custom fields, assuming the template you are using for the first post contains the $post[GARS_modpositionX] variables, X is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Done all that. However, how am I going to get it show in a box to the right of a tutorial? Do I edit a template and add something?

When you add the GARS custom fields module, there is a drop down where you select where you want the module to appear on the page:
  • Showthread
    • 1: Above Header
    • 2: Inside Header
    • 3: Below Header
    • 4: Left of content
    • 5: Right of content
    • 6: Below content
  • Forumdisplay
    • 1: Above threads
    • 2: Left of threads
    • 3: Right of threads
    • 4: Below threads
If you don't see it, make sure that under the ACP -> GARS -> Types -> click a type -> check the correct set is selected in the Modules box.

Hello Morgan,

Yes, I can see it when creating a new tutorial. I then went to: ACP --> GARS --> Modules --> Default Module Set --> Add Module (Applies to) --> Right of Content.

I then went and created a new tutorial and selection an option from the custom field drop-down menu, however it still does not show.

Thank-you for your continued support.

What template are you using for the first post in showthread (ACP -> GARS -> Templates)? Is that template set selected in the ACP -> GARS -> Types? Is the correct type applied to the forum (ACP -> GARS -> Settings)? Did you modify the template being used for the first post in showthread? If so, make a backup of the template, and then either 1) revert it if it is the GARS_pb template via the ACP or 2) enter GARS_pb in the 'First post in showthread' box, and then check the thread.

Template being used is GARS_pb. No templates have been modified. Everything is default. I don't understand what you're saying. Care to elaborate.

Any chance you could take a look for me?

I would need a link to a page where the custom field is to appear and admin level ACP access with Can Admin GARS administrator permission to check things out.
