New GARS version has arrived! Shop is open.
GARS v.2.1.8m has been released, and GARS license holders will be given a chance to grab the new package sans payment. Many bugs were squashed, and while it is not completely certain if all bugs were squashed, it is highly recommended that you upgrade due to security issues.

Scared? ;) Don't be, as the new version is currently running on, so you can go test it if you wish, but please, please back up your stuff in case you encounter a problem, and please upgrade to this latest version so you receive the security fixes, not to mention a number of bug fixes.

Also, when creating custom modules (those that are not part of the actual downloadable GARS package) YOU MUST SANITIZE DATA. This was not and is not done for you, as custom1 is meant to be, well, custom. Some people may want HTML, some may not, others may use arrays of arrays of arrays, others may only need simple arrays, and still others... well, you get the idea, so make sure you sanitize data. The modules that are included in the downloadable GARS package have been checked for you.

Finally, the shop is again open. Currently only GARS is ready for purchase. The other scripts are currently being developed and will appear in GeekMart when they are ready.

sans payment
means "without payment" so if you are expired, you should be eligible for download (I was, but renewed anyway cuz GARS is worth it! ;) )

Renew here:

Otherwise, if your license expired after June 2nd, you'll be able to download it from

If your license expired before June 2nd, you'll have to renew.

(this is how I understood the message on the download page)

soultrader 01-03-2008 12:12 AM

I am getting a database error importing the product. Can I receive some help on this?

Well I bought my license on November 30th, 2007... where do I got my update?

Ok I think I got it now...
Can you tell everybody that by downloading the old version u will get the new one?

iogames 01-03-2008 01:06 AM

You are not currently caching your settings. It is strongly advised you do. To cache settings, set the Cache Settings option to yes and chmod your geek/gars/cache folder (and subfolders) to 0777.
even when I chmod every file...
and when u check versions says:

Installed: 2.1.8
Latest: 2.1.8c

Freesteyelz 01-03-2008 02:25 AM

Sweet! Thanks, Morgan. I'll install and test it out soon. :)

*On a side note: Did you get my PM about 3rd license?

reteep 01-03-2008 06:14 AM

It worked without problems here.

First I went into the Nav Menu and selected "Purchase License/Renewals" option.
You should see Products in GeekMart Box with Geek Article and Review System listed as a product.
Click on that link and you'll be taken to the next screen which has a brief overview of GARS. Underneath
that you'll see the Add to Cart section. I choose the 1 Year GARS License Re-newal and followed the prompts from there to pay via paypal.

Once that was done I went back to the Nav Menu and selected License and Download Manager and download the product from there.

I hope this helps.

BTW: A Brand Free Option would be nice for those that already own a license.

@iogames: Go here and download GARS v.2.1.8m. Please see here for how to install or upgrade. When you are using GARS via the ACP, the letter in the version should appear in the title of the page and/or on the tab if using tabs (see the attachments contained in this post), in each of the PHP files near the top (see the code bit in this post), and in the footer of a GARS related webpage if branded (see here for an example).

// Geek Article and Review System 2.1.8m
The other geek scripts will be made available just as soon as they are ready. Please use the time it took for the new GARS release as a general guide. :)

benj 01-03-2008 09:47 PM

3.7 support?

Morgan 01-03-2008 10:06 PM

Yes, GARS 2.1.8m should work fine with vB 3.6.x or vB 3.7.x versions.

Fleabag 01-04-2008 02:26 AM

Thanks Morgan. Inspired me to get GARS'ing again.

NoDRaC 01-04-2008 04:26 PM

hi i upgraded without any problem.
Thanks Morgan
I want you ask will you change script name or photoplog name? geekgalery good script name :)

Morgan 01-04-2008 04:55 PM

No plans to change any names, at least not now. People recognize the products by their names, so changing them might not be so good. ;)

Fleabag 01-05-2008 01:53 AM

They are great names anyway!

Mikaelweb 01-05-2008 04:01 PM

well i hope it works fine

Loco 01-06-2008 08:35 PM

We had a few members tell us about this when it went live, I hadn't had a chance to check things out until just now.. I've renewed and downloaded the package, Thanks for keeping things updated Morgan :)

WhatChaMissin 01-06-2008 11:16 PM

Morgan 01-06-2008 11:38 PM

If you want to go brand free, just drop me a PM or email.

Ghostsuit 01-07-2008 02:42 AM

Thanks for the new version and the time to download it. Much appreciated and looking forward to the new scripts.

Fleabag 01-07-2008 09:16 PM

Agreed. It's great progress, I am very impressed - if that means anything to you at all. :)

nexia 03-24-2008 12:45 PM
