The Geek 08-05-2007 05:46 AM

Dear vbgeek customers,

While I was on vacation last week, our family business hit an unexpected crisis that has required 200% of my focus and time. As such, I will be absent from the site for the unforeseeable future, leaving me unable to support and develop.

This crisis could potentially be rectified by as soon as the end of next week, however it could also take substantially longer. In the meantime, I will be closing up future purchases of my scripts as I do not think that it is fair to sell something that I can not support for the foreseeable future.

I will work to ensure that the crisis is averted ASAP so I can resume my recognised support and development or that I can identify people and/or an organisation to provide (at minimum) the level of support my customers have grown to expect.

I deeply appreciate your understanding and patience in this very difficult time for me and my family.

As a perspective customer I was looking forward to purchase some of your very useful scripts, but I understand that you must focus all your energy on your priorities. Hopefully the crisis will resolve itself and you will get focused on making your scripts much better in the near future.

I wish for a positive outcome in your situation.

I wish you and your family high hopes and good luck. I hope the crisis is resolved smoothly and without more problems arising.

Dava02 08-11-2007 07:52 PM

Like everyone says hope all works out and fast, as nothing worse than problems lasting longer then anyone could wish.

FRAiD 08-12-2007 12:43 AM

I personally think your stuff is good enough to just keep selling and not provide support :D, but that's just a testament to how much I've enjoyed using your products.

Anyway, jk...

I hope you can come back soon. Best of luck.

Black Cobra 08-12-2007 12:37 PM

Hope all will be well and your crisis solved as soon as possible.

I thank you for all the support you have provided and look forward to your return..

PixelFX 08-13-2007 02:20 AM

Samual let us know if we can help in anyway :D

pixie 08-13-2007 10:59 AM

Of course this sounds really bad and I wish you and your family all the best in the world, but can't somebody else take on support in the meanwhile?

I mean, don't get me wrong: a lot of people here built their business upon your software and there are still a lot of issues and questions to be solved. As much as I wish for yourself to return to us as soon as possible, it would be great if someone could stand in for you during that time of personal crisis.

Thanks a lot and all the best! :)

RaceJunkie 08-13-2007 02:43 PM

I came today to buy the Geek Gazette but now I am having 2nd thoughts.. I do hope everything works out for you and yours, but I would have to agree with pixie. This is the main reason I have tried to stay away from one-man operations for s/w.. If anything prevents you from supporting your s/w in the future where does that leave all the current customers? I have heard only great things about this news letter but the support is the only thing that makes me 2nd guess my options..

ProGaming 08-13-2007 11:49 PM

I've been a customer for almost a year and have really been happy with the products and support.

For what you are paying you really can't expect everything. There's no doubt that geek puts alot of work in his scripts. Im sure if had to hire staff the cost's would go up. I'd hate to have to pay $149 for gars but it would be more worth it than paying $149 for vbseo which actually cost's that much.

You are still getting way more than you pay for here.

My advise is hang tight and let The Geek get his priorities together. He'll be back in full force hopefully soon.

I've been putting off buying a couple scripts also and Im ready as soon as he gets back.

DMH 08-14-2007 12:47 AM

Yep, If he had a support team you would be paying for it. While the Geeks out taking care of family business, how about everyone skim thru some posts and see if you can’t answer some questions. Help the guy out.

I’m no Guru but I do what I can. That’s all it takes.

Hornstar6969 08-17-2007 09:42 AM

I wonder how serious the crisis is? im such a sticky beak :/ I want to know more ^^ well hope you get through it okay Sam!

brihan 08-17-2007 11:15 PM

Family and friends first!

All this business & money stuff are secondary priorities in life.

I wish you and your family the best.

ChurchMedia 09-06-2007 06:34 PM

Take care and I hope everything will work out for you and your family. Keep your chin up. :)

iogames 10-26-2007 08:01 PM

I really wish you the best on this situation

Last post here was made quite some time ago, and it appears the Geek Shop is still closed. Can someone please provide an update? Thanks.

Anyone got any info when the geekcart will be back online, I wanted to renew some script support and download the latest...

Sadly, I can't do either! :(

Let's hope we get a gift for the Holidays. I'm guessing early 08 myself.

This looks like it's now permanently dead looking at 4 months transition so far, and only a dozen posts in that time.

Off to find a new article system, any recommendations?

Tigratrus 12-28-2007 03:41 PM

:: puzzled expression ::

If you read through the appropriate threads I think you'll find that it's only been a few weeks. Most of the time you're referring to is the time that it took Sam to *find* an appropriate developer (after we all asked him not to release them on to take over maintenance and development of the Geek Scripts. Read though the reactions on the thread... I think you'll be pleasantly suprised. Morgan's a first class developer and has always provided absolutely superb support for photoplog. Changing to another article system now, before you see what the next version of GARS is like would, IMO, be a mistake.

Seriously, read though that thread and think about how many people all agree that this was a great solution... Morgan's only had a bit over 2 weeks (if I've got the time table right in my head) since all the details of the turnover were singed, sealed and delivered and vB 3.7 came out right in the middle. I think a bit of patience might be called for?

But that's just my $.02 worth, obviously YMMV widely...
