Custom field or custom module?

I want to add some funcrionality to my instal of GARS 2.0b2 that will allow users to upload a file when they make a new post. I then want to be able to put a link to this file in the thread (I actually want to do more than that but that doesn't matter at this stage as its all HTML baby).

I have noticed your shopping card custom module. Would I need to do something like this or would I be looking to create another custom field (is that possible?)

Why wont standard attachments work? Especially with inline inserting of attachment, what would be different?

heh. I knew you were going to ask me that!

Bascially I want to be able to let people upload an XML GPS data file (.gpx) and then display map of the track data in the post using the Google Maps API.

So all I need to achieve this is the file upload and then to be able to have the filename available in the thread so that I can output something like:

<iframe src="googlemaps.php?file=uploadedfile.gpx"></iframe>

This would save me manually adding the iframe, which is what I am doing atm (http://www.uk-biking.net/showthread.php?p=135)

I would look at making a custom module for it. I would help but it will take me awhile to get some free time to do so :)

Geek :) you are going to make a lot of new modules and in the end you'll get a new cmps working ;)
By the way while you are creating a lot of modules let me ask another one :P Latest Reply module ;) ( which i believe the most important module you can create ;) )

Wait till you see whats in the pipeline Lizard :D

That shouldnt be too hard. You mean a top module that is based on replies?

ok, cool.

Would you be able to get your shopping list module working in beta 2? So that I have something to work from.
