Has anyone ever put together a Glossary GARS type?

We're working on building a Glossary system using GAL and GARS, we've got most of the GAL work done, we're just trying to fix one final display issue before that part goes live. But we're also trying to build a GARS enabled forum that the GAL entries can link to.

The concept is a VERY clean almost extraneous info free template to list all the Glossary entries alphabetically. With the Alphabetical Quick Jump Bar to link them together we should be able to set it up for quick, easy navigation for folks that want to look for something rather than linking into it via a GAL link.

To make it work, we need a template that has none of the usual vB bells and whistles (Search, Thread tools etc) for the Forumdisplay. Has anyone else put something like this together? We're making progress, but the template formatting to remove all the extras is a PITA.

Seems like this is kind of a natural pairing of GAL/GARS to us, so I was sort of wondering if we were reinventing a round rolling device, and if so, perhaps we could borrow a set of blueprints and save some time? Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide...

I'm afraid I cannot help with the code but... I for one would be very interested in the final results! sounds fantastic!

Have you seen the glossary that GAL 5 comes with? www.thevbgeek.com/glossary.php

Actually we hadn't

We hadn't actually installed GAL 5 yet. Our testbed blew up (VPS host had hardware issues) and we haven't put it back together yet. That looks like EXACTLY what we were thinking of though. ::sigh::

Now I have to figure out how to tell Susan that all the work that's been done on template tweaking is going to be obsolete ;).

Thanks! I'll show him when he gets up, though I might wait till he's had some cofee ::ponder::

James
