Template Sets

A Template Set is a group of templates that override the normal vBulletin ones. This allows GARS to transform the look and feel of vBulletin on a forum by forum basis.

Once a template set is created, it can then be assigned to a type.

You can view which template sets are configured by browsing to admincp->gars->templates. There you will also be able to create additional template sets or edit existing ones.

To edit an existing template set, simply click on its name or select Edit from the drop down menu. To delete a template set, simply select Delete from the drop down menu.

To create a template set, browse to your template set manager (admincp->gars->templates) and click Add New at the bottom of the list of existing term sets. To edit a template set, simply click on its name.

When you Add or Edit a Template Set, you will be presented with the following options:

  • forumdisplay - the template to use instead of FORUMDISPLAY (default: GARS_forumdisplay)
  • threadbit - the template to use instad of threadbit (default: GARS_threadbit)
  • Deleted threadbit - the template to use instead of threadbit_del (default: GARS_threadbit_deleted)
  • Showthread - the template to use instead of SHOWTHREAD (default: none)
  • First post in showthread - the template to use for displaying the first post in a thread (default: GARS_pb)
  • First post on additional pages - the template to use as a preview of the first post on additional pages in GARS (default: none)
  • Comments - the template to use for additional posts in a thread. GARS_comment is the default and is a condensed version of postbit. GARS also comes with GARS_comment_plus which is an enhanced version of the normal postbit that allows ratings to be displayed in the users post. (default: GARS_comment)
  • Deleted Comments - the template to use instead of postbit_del (default: none)
  • New Thread - the template to use instead of newthread (default: none)
  • Edit Thread - the template to use instead of editpost (default: none)

If the setting is left blank, GARS will either use the vBulletin default template, or will not display anything (depending on the template).
