Well, after 6 months and about 10,000 lines of code (thats not actually counting the countless rewrites!) - my baby is now ready to face the world.

GARS - is stamped as gold.

Not a whole heck of a lot has changed since the DNEG release (anything that is visible anyway). However you still need to follow the upgrade instructions in the readme as there is important information there.

Please also familiarise yourself with the on-line manual found here (http://www.thevbgeek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46) as it will enable you to get a heck of a lot more out of GARS as well as answer many common questions.

You will notice that the Troubleshooting forum has gone on a diet. This is because I had a massive clear out of issue that either were resolved, very old, I thought were resolved, or I screwed up and accidentally deleted. The issues I left are either those that I am awaiting feedback on or KNOW need addressing (there is really only 1 issue outstanding but thats with a custom module).

I want to take a second to thank everyone for all their support over the past 6 months. GARS has exceeded my expectations in functionality AND popularity. Getting to this stage couldn't have happened without everyones involvement.

Anyway, please nJoy. I have :)

Thanks everyone!

Also, a new user has just pointed out an odd bug that I just squashed. I never saw it because it would never show up on the admin account ;)

Anyhooo, I did just update the package however the only file that changed was geek/gars/includes/gars_class_core.php so if you just upgraded to gold... grab the 1.0b package and replace that file!

Thanks :)

It's the one at the bottom. When you download it, the name of the file displays correctly.

I think there is a little mistake in english phrases :
<phrase name="GARS_lowercases">Deleted (ex : articles)</phrase>

should be :
<phrase name="GARS_lowercases">Lowercase Plural (ex : articles)</phrase>

cclaerhout

French translation almost done ; just have to read it again :D

Edit : about the <phrase name="GARS_with_selected">With selected:</phrase>

->find it ;)

Just so you know....

The reason why your gold announcement is not the first news item even though it's newer than your last news peice... this is because your gold announcement is not stickied.

If you sticky the announcement it will show up first. Heh I didn't even notice it when I came to your site a few hours ago.

Sticky the announcement :D

installed, 1st question:

Absolute path to images... some slashes are forward, some are backward... also do we need a trailing slash?

fyi, chmod 0777 is read/execute for all of the "IUSR_" users on the physically windows folder, you might want to include that in the instructions.

The Geek
01-11-2006, 05:22 PM
SOunds like its on a window machine :)

Put the path in EXACTLY how it appears in the ()'s. Thanks for the FYI

I've been using the gold release for a few days and have yet to find any flaws ;)

While I should probably mention this in another thread (and while it's nothing major), integration with Mystic's Thread Prefix hack would be great ;)
