I just updated the package (really only the gars_class_core.php file) to avoid the 2 template edits I mentioned before. Now its done automatically without the previous template edits to newreply and editpost.

Amazing product from an amazing person. Downloading now ;)
Hello Geek
Thanks for the email ;) as you know I am very keen on this but hold reservations due to having limited knowledge:(
Again, thanks for your great work, in your opinion would you say that this version would be suitable for some one such as myself, or is it still for advanced users?
Thanks ;)

Personally I think its pretty much ready to go. Only items outstanding are phrasing (99% of the templates already are phrased) and documentation.
Couple that with the fact I emailed all users 3 hours ago and there has been a pretty constant buzz on the site since then with people downloading and I have yet to see a bug reported (knock on wood). Thats always a good sign as the most frequent bug reports are directly after a release.
Anyhooo... I say go for it. If you're still cautious then hold off until RC2. At this stage I may even skip that :)
thanks for the email geek :) installing now its funny the small things in life that get you excited :)

Woohoo!! Gr8!!
Just a silly question as i am a bit confused: which showthread template to remove, the GARS_showthread or default showthread template?
Thanks
The Geek

just leave the SHOWTHREAD setting in your admincp->GARS->templates blank.

I want to ask couple things :)
First i customized my gars_showthread template :P so does this template gone in the new version or can i still use the one i customized ?
For Gal i am using the lite version. So do i have to wait for that for GARS integration or can i upgrade ?
The Geek
11-07-2005, 08:48 AM
You can go ahead and use your customized one if you want. The above is only for those using the 'default' setup.
GAL integration is currently only for the PRO version. You can still use the latest GARS, but you wont be able to integrate the GAL interface with it. In fact, Im not sure I can integrate it with the LITE version.

Geek for future RC releases is it possible to add the phrases in its own group instead of Global phrases ?
Edit : One more question , i have been looking for to change Read More in forumdisplay synopsis but couldn't locate where to translate it. Where can i change read more to anything i want ?
The Geek

The phrases arent just global. A couple are - but thats by design. The others are per appropriate phrase group.
The ReadMe will be phrased in the next iteration. Its currently hard coded ;)

Just installed, i must say its quite impressive!!
If you please visit this link --> http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/sikhphilosophy/japji-sahib/
You would notice:
1. ... Read More - There used to be a small synopsis of the contents in the article, irrespective whether we filled synopsis box or not, it is not showing up.
2. In all three modules towards rightside - There are some threads, which have not been rewritten properly using vBSEO software i.e. these threads are in .php formatting.
3. I also noticed that in the package, you have created images for New Articles, Tutorials etc. I think they are yet to be implemented. ;)

Thanks!
The synopsis isnt coming up because there isnt a matching entry in the GARS table. I thought I had a workaround for this... but maybe not :(
Simply editing and saving the item will give it an entry (of course, that a right pain!)
I think the issue with vbseo is well - with vbseo! Then again - im not too sure!
The images were working with the previous update. It appears I broke something in the last update.
Thanks!

Even though many phrases remains hardcoded, here is french translation (don't hit me :D ). It's a xml product installation file. It will replace english phrases by french one's (only thoses included in Geek xml ; not hardcoded one's).

How far out do you expect a module for vBAdvanced? Like something for the latest 3 articles, or the latest review, etc.?
Thanks!

Great work on the speedy release. A couple of issues though, I'll get them posted in Troubleshooting if I don't figure 'em out. :)

Awesome! Thanks!
Am I able to upgrade preserving my existing GARS settings?
The Geek

your previous setting will be reset. This is due to a fundamental shift in how GARS stores data.
Sorry :)
At least it now comes pretty much pre configured :)

Alright, I'm confused. On this page (http://www.thevbgeek.com/geekmart.php?do=displayproduct&id=2) when I click on "Example of GAL in action" I'm taken to THIS particular thread.
However, I don't see the features listed being shown here anywhere.(i.e. "create pop-up boxes when users hover over them")
All I see are embedded hotlinks that open a new window and take you off to a different place.
I would think if it were to be used for a learning system, it would give more info where you're at vs. being taken off into a new window somewhere else. If you had a page with 15 different keywords on it, you'd end up going to 15 different new windows.:( That'd sort of make it hard to read/learn through a given webpage wouldn't it?(vs. learning while you stay on that page)

Bad example :)
You can see GAL in action anywhere GAL, GAB, GeekMart or GARS is used. Also, check out the GAL discussion area, you may find some other member implimentations
