When you hover over a link in IE the window pops up for only a few seconds.

Go to Geek Auto-Linker -> Settings and try upping the Decay value.

I have it set to 50 now but it still goes away quickly

Does it go away too quickly on this site when using IE? Example: GARS

Hmm, I wonder whether there is some add-on JavaScript conflict or a vB 3.7.x JavaScript conflict or an IE issue or some other issue.

Ugh, JavaScript. :(

Yes it goes away quickly here as well. I don't have time to read all the content even though my mouse is still hovered over the link.

What version of IE are you using?

PS: I bumped Decay up to 4000. What happens now when you hover on this site? Example: GARS

7.0

It stays a little longer but not long enough to read the content.

Try bumping it more on your site. Assuming 4000 milliseconds, that is 4 seconds.

It works better I can read the content in the box but if it was any longer I would be SOL.. Is it not supose to stay open the whole time I have my cursor over the link?

What if I set it to 60,000 that would be a min should be long enough? :D

After reading this I decided to check under IE also (IE6). On my site (3.6.8PL2) it does seem to disappear slightly faster under IE, but not a lot...

One thing I did notice however was that under Firefox if you leave the cursor over the link, the popup remains indefinitely. Under IE6 it 'decays' at the same rate whether the cursor is floating over the link or not.

[edit: I'm a slow typer, previous post wasn't there when I started :) ]

Is it just IE6 or both IE6 and IE7?

I only use IE-7

From my tests under both IE6 and IE7 the popup disappears after expected amount of time (difference from my tests between FF and IE are negligible) whether hovering cursor over link or not. Under Firefox the popup doers not disappear whilst hovering.

Mind you, my decay time is only 2000, which seems to leave the popup for about 2-3 seconds in live tests on my site. Perhaps if there is an issue it is not noticable with short time frames?

Does anybody notice whether it depends on vB version? Seems strange to work for some and not for others. Hard to track down.

I'm currently using 3.6.8 Patch Level 2

I'm running GAL on the same version - 3.6.8PL2

For me the popup time is not an issue, only the popup staying on hover. RaceJunkie seems to also have this issue

Correct you are..

Staying on hover is a difference in how browsers deal with the JavaScript. The quick disappearing act that some people experience in IE is an issue, and I'm not sure why some people have that problem and others do not. Those experiencing the latter, what other add-ons (ones that include JavaScript) do you have?

I have this menu bar, that's all I can think of at the moment.

What happens if you temporarily remove that JavaScript?
