Question regarding subcategories

Hello,

I have a parent category with two sub-categories.

When I go to the parent category's page, the subcategories are listed (as they should be). Underneath that, there is a block which says:

There have been no posts in the last -1 days in this category.
Try using the controls below to search for any older posts that may exist.

My question is: Instead of displaying the above message, is there a way to populate that block with the latest X articles from the subcategories?

No without some modifications. I mean, you could do that with modules NOW, and I suppose hide the message with a template edit?

Ah, ok. I'll probably work it out with the modules, then. I was just wondering if that was already in place and I was missing the obvious. ;)
