I've been wrestling with trying to set OpenAds up in my forum when I stumbled upon this forum. I have no idea what GAB can do, where to get it, or how much it costs, but I'd love to know more. Can someone fill me in, and tell me how it differs from OpenAds? Also, is it possible to track adclicks and to target banners for specific forums? And does it accomodate text ads?

A lot of questions, I know, but appreciate the help.

Hey Ski.

GAB was originally coded a couple years ago. I havent used openads so I cant really compare the feature set for you or give you an unbiased perspective on the differences.

In a nutshell, GAB is designed to integrate with vB. You can create multitudes of banners and configurations, allow usergroups to turn them off, show flash, image, rotating and yes... text ads. You can order GAL by clicking the navigation menu.

Although it hasnt been redeveloped for some time, GAB will be getting a new rewrite once I finish completion of GAL 6.

Let me know if you need any further clarification.

GAB is great, but some really great features did not work correctly :( Cannot wait the day, Geek will finish GAL and start working on GAB again...

So can you basically put:

Flash banners

etc. all in the site and just put in a simple $variable into your site's code and it will pick one randomly?

In a nutshell, yes - however you can't currently mix types in the same slot (i.e. text ads and flash) - saying that - there is a workaround.
