I'm pleased to announce that RC 4 is now available for download from the license and download manager for applicable license holders.

This release marks the final pre-release before GAZ goes gold. This release is a last ditch effort to ensure that ll areas of GAZ are operating bug free before it gets the midas touch.

Here is an overview of what has changed since RC3b

I have created a subscriptions system (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=16) that allows you to browse subscribers or assign subscribers. In a lot of ways, it is similar to vB's user search system so you should be used to it :D
I have created the ability to subscribe/unsubscribe (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=5) from the newsletter.php page
I have created the ability to unsubscribe from the email (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=4)
I have fixed layout issues (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=13) with the text versions
I have created a way to automatically extract the in-line style information
Addressed empty emails (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=17) being sent out
Prevented users from browsing newsletters (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=15) w/o being in an allowed user group.
Fixed code and quote blocks (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=12) not displaying
Dramatically improved the snipping ability to prevent broken HTML. Its not perfect, but its about the best thing out there now :D
You can now edit someone's subscription information from their user admincp (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php?issueid=6) pageFor a complete list, see this report (http://www.thevbgeek.com/projectsearch.php?do=viewreport&issuereportid=2).

Upgrade as normal, if you haven't loaded your in-style definitions yet, I would recommend running the rebuild tool in gaz's admincp tools window.

Please do not use this thread to troubleshoot, use it to discuss the release!

Use Project Tools (http://www.thevbgeek.com/project.php) to post bugs or feature requests.

nJoy!

Great! Everything seems to work very well, with my previous issues being addressed in full. There is an new error when I proceed to newsletter.php, however. I am denied permission and the following error is listed (in triplicate) at the top of the screen:

Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /newsletter.php on line 175

hmmm. Im going to assume that you do not have yourself in any usergroups of any of your newsletters.

Edit your newsletter, make sure the usergroups are correctly selected, then try.

In the meantime if you could post it in the bug tracker I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

I have a bug for the Bug tracker... but your sig leads to vbgeek.com not THEvbgeek.com. :p

(Unsubscribe TO this Newsletter?) .. FROM would make more sense. ;)

Thanks, you can skip putting the link in my signature into the tracker. I have fixed it now :D

THanks Ramses, I updated the link, however I am suspecting that maybe you cant link directly to the PT reports :( Ill have to look into that further :)

I got this problem on my test server ( just blank forum )... All settings were correct too... But as soon as I moved it over to my main site the error was gone... Strange eh..

Great! Everything seems to work very well, with my previous issues being addressed in full. There is an new error when I proceed to newsletter.php, however. I am denied permission and the following error is listed (in triplicate) at the top of the screen:

Nice work GEEK - I've been kinda busy with JPiC as of lately with Call For Submissions and stuff, So I've installed GAZ but haven't really tested it. I will be updating later today and testing it out - Looks PHENOMENAL = Thanx for your work ;)

Do you have HTML disabled or something through a setting? That header sasys text/plain instead of text/html

captainslater
06-01-2007, 10:33 AM
There is no setting for disabling HTML in Gmail or simply I can't found it.
Nevertheless I received other HTML-emails that day.

I've attached you a screenshot of another GAZ-Mail which is correctly (I think).

The Geek
06-01-2007, 10:59 AM
hmmm, odd. It is better, but it looks even better in the gmail that I have tested.

I noticed you have not made any anouncements about any of the updates for gars or gaz, does this mean its not a necesarry update, or should we update to fix some bugs?

also i noticed you have implemented branding free in the bug tracker, if possible could you enable that for my account, because I would like to start sending out some newsletters to my members :)

Thanks.

The Geek
06-02-2007, 11:46 PM
Hey Horn, its implimented for gold which were not there yet. Both updates are minor updates to address open issues. I am hoping this is the last update before gold :)

Did you noticed that all the time your "test newsletter" which is send to all users is too width ?

I can scroll double the page to the right, and i am using 1280x1024.
Normal newsletters arent able to scroll to the right side...

regards

The Geek
06-05-2007, 03:49 AM
The tests I recieve always seem fine with the width? What email reader do you use?

Loco
06-05-2007, 05:21 AM
how do I get on the test email list ? I'd like to get updates about this hack :)

JonnyF

I am using Outlook

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/1175/sdfwevdfrb5.gif
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/1497/gbrtcdr2eh5.gif

Like you can see the width is about 2000+

The Geek
06-05-2007, 06:48 PM
The problem here is that outlooks "We are saving you from images, click here to download them" message is pushing the layout wide.

AFAIK, There is really not much that can be done about that other than downloading the images.

Loco - GOLD is around the corner :)

Yikes! That's almost $50 over here. I'm afraid that's a bit out of my reach... :(

The Geek
06-16-2007, 04:39 PM
Yea, can be a bit of a bummer when the dollar is so weak right now. Its pretty cheap here, 25GBP will give me about half a tank of gas :)

Ohiosweetheart
06-17-2007, 08:42 AM
Yeah. Oh well, I'll have to stay with commbull for now.
