Hi Guys. I just want to make sure I have all feature requests in for the next iteration. If there is something I have missed. If so, please provide a brief description and a link to the post/thread where it was being discussed.
Here is the current 'new features' status:
Limit threads in forum display - Done. There is now a setting per type that allows you to override vb's maxthreads option. Therefore you can now specify 10 threads per page or 100
Default alphabetical sort method - Done. There is now an option to automatically sort alphabetically by title.What I will not be planning on implementing:
Attachment system. vB's is pretty full featured enough (especially with vB's new iniline attachment ability).Aside from those 2 things and the known issues (post as, GAL integration) I think thats it (hence the reason why I am asking!).

If we want to change a module we have to delete it and re add the module to the correct place we want to place. Can there be a option which we can move the module easily any place we want like the one in vba cmps :)
i believe it will help us a lot.
Also is it possible to have a search module where we can place in at forumdisplay.
Also one important question :D Is there any way to have a module for cmps which will show featured articles as same as on forumdisplay or showthread :)
I will think more :P

moving the modules would be grt addon..
btw geek did you look at this
http://www.thevbgeek.com/showpost.php?p=1128&postcount=19
if so were they fixed?
Also would it be possible to pull of an addon which displays remote hosted pics.
eg imageshack thumbs.. it would be attachments kind only.. you enter the links to imageshack thumbs and it displays them in ordered manner. Will save site BW i guess and as it is most people use imageshack.

I originally had it so the modules could change order - but it turned into a nightmare to code for. I agree its needed so ill look at it fresh.
Im not sure what you mean about pulling remote hosted pics. Do you mean in a seperate module or inline?

Geek i know this is an extreme request but is there a way that a module can recall some information from imdb like the movies rating etc..
i will use one part of this for my movie forum and that would me awesome .

I dont see why not. Modules are like superman - they can do damn near anything ;)
Saying that I wouldnt know the first thing about calling imdb however I can help you or anyone else code the framework :)

especially with vB's new iniline attachment ability
By inline attachment ability do you mean the ability to place attached images inside the text of your post instead of at the bottom of the post???? (')_(,)

Yea - I think most people don't know anything about it. I wouldn't have if I wouldn't of stumbled across it.

you don't know.. damn me didn't know about it either :P
btw geek i meant a module kinda thing.
At the bootom it shows attach images. on clicking you get a window where there is place to place links to thumbs(of the images already uploaded by user) on imageshack.
You enter the links and in the thread view, it displays those thumb images in a an ordered manner.
kinda that :d

wouldnt be hard to do with a module at all.
I need some people to help with modules. Maybe ill offer some license to get the community ball going on developing these things. They aren hard to do at all.

2 more bugs ,,,
1) the adsense block, i followed your instructions. Have got it as a module and set it to display on right. Now alls well here but for users while trying to make a new thread there also get to see the adsense (see the image .. you will know)
http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/9135/screen6qo.gif
after the adsense block you get the actual posting space. looks kinda funny actually :P
2) and post as another user, umm is that working. I tried posting as another guy (by putting the name of another member in there) and it still showed up as me.

~any update on above geek?

Post as isnt plugged in yet.
As for the adsense bit, I think you followed the old version (I think). The new version wraps it in
if ($stage=="display")
{
// show adsense
}

I know i have already talked about this before, but it looks very cool and would improve our output alot.
with providing reviews and news, you have a section that allows us to input resources etc, i think it would be great if in that are you could have 3 sections which information could be entered by pressing a button, like source of information button, screenies/view button which will link to any screen shots of item, and download for freeware/shareware titles.
when these are posted, next to each area a small icon appears
here is a link to neowin who are using a system which has this added, think it will make gar's 110% as its 100% great system already.
link to what iam talking about.

Can you post a screen shot? I get an access denied page.

I dont want your product to be someelse as yours is great but i think this added either into the posting area or be able to do it in the references area or even a addon.
here are the screenies
Screen One (http://sharewithus.info/~sharewithus/screen one.png)
Screen Two (http://sharewithus.info/~sharewithus/screen two.png)
Default alphabetical sort method - Done. There is now an option to automatically sort alphabetically by title.
Great. Will this be on a per forum or articlecategory base?

Cant these things really be done via the current editor?
ie in-line attachments, uploading files, etc... ?
Just curious what you're seeing as different.
Thanks!

i dont want to attach files or upload files, they are links, and in the reference boxes etc it will not allow me anyway to insert bbcode to make links live with names, if this not possible then can we make the reference box advanced editorable like the main posting area.
all i was showing was icons which are placed next to links by a click of a button, you then added the url, then add what you want to be seen link live download here. the reference box will not allow use to do this without having to manually code it.
Just an idea m8, will leave the subject be now.
The Geek

DOnt leave it ;)
The refrences box does take BBcode (or rather it should do!).
Blackbeard

it might be me then, but i think playing with the reference box to be able me and forum members to add information better will help them join in, i can get my head around how to add an image the some text and make that text link to a web page, but our standard type of member on my forum will not be able to as i run a forum for pc newbies etc, who are asking for help, and sometimes now help in posting reviews on new hardware etc, thats why i ask m8

ok i must of been doing something wrong but got bbcode working, but adding a couple of buttons in the option area to aid the adding of links, instead of typeing this for example

For reference box i also agree that it is a little complicated for users to fill out. If there will be option just to add some bbcode it might be really good but this is not a 100% necessary thing for GARS
The Geek

yea, it could be improved - it was really designed to demonstrate adding and saving extra fields.
Ill look to improve it

No i agree and what we have is great now, but as the title of the thread said, it was wanting ideas for future releases.

Just an other idea, but for the future, i have and will stay with this, but have been looking around at other stuff, virtuanews is just one, what i think would be good is, and i said a long shot, is if this could be somehow turned into a homepage system aswell, abit like vbadvance, but with information collected from the different area gars supplys, so if you have a hardware section, software etc, it can be display on the homepage aswell or instead of the forum, it would give my forum that professional front end, but iam not the one that would have to code it if its a good idea or not.
