Im please to announce the first maintenence release of GARS 2.0 Boldly titled: GARS 2.0.1 The Return.
THis is a service release to address bugs that have been reported since the release of 2.0. For a complete list of bug fixes, please see the bug trackers thing that tells you what bugs I fixed here (http://www.thevbgeek.com/tracker/index.php?cmd=changelog&project=1&version=21).
Please note the the GARS_pb template has been updated.
You no longer have to resave each custom field after upgrading in order to rebuild its phrase. This is done automatically for you
If you have any add ons that utilize the GARS import system (i.e. the link directory or Release system) then you will need to re-imort those to reinstall their templates and phrases. IMPORTANT: Make sure you choose the option to 'imoprt templates and phrases only' to avoid getting new types and such.

Updating brought several problems for me.
I have phrases that are not displayed, modules that have to be setup again and different strange option and style issues which I cannot analyse without Geek.

Is GARS 2.0.1 vb3.6.2 compatible?
Edit: Already found the answer: it is.

Not sure if this is your problem, but if you download with Firefox, the package comes without a .zip extension. You have to add it yourself. I use Winace to extract the file.

Beduino - make sure all files are uploaded before importing the package. Are you on a mac? Some mac users have had problems unzipping the archive. I use IE here and FF, both are giving me readable packages from your license manager.
Walter - what error are you getting with ratings? I havent touched the ratings in this version?!?

The Ajax isn't working. I can rate fine when posting, but when I try to rate with Ajax it says:
"Error getting info"
Also it is the "remove new page from BB code" type setting that is not in the admin cp.

Im not able to repro the ajax issue. Can you run the clean orphans option under admincp->gars->tools? Is it on all threads? THreads just moved? Any pattern?
Also.. not sure what you mean about the bbcode thing

I attached the missing phrase in my admincp (type).
As for the ajax error, I installed GARS on a completely new forum. Everything works fine except for the Ajax and the missing phrase. I used the default review and it doesn't work.
Orphan cleaning did not help.

FOund the missing phrase... Im about to release an update to address a couple issues but I would like to get to this one too. Any way you can send me ftp and admincp info (including url) so I can check into it? Another user posted a similar bug.

I just update, everything went smoothly.
But I don't see the rate thread option, is it because it has be enable or it just missing?

Do you mean the vB threadrate? Check the type setting as there is an on/off setting for it in there.

I have been hesitant to upgrade due the listed errors above. Is this version now totally bug free?
Edit: The bug tracker lists 8 open bugs, so I guess it is better to wait until these are solved.

Hello, sorry for my bad English.
Is there a German translation for GARS and GAL?

I see that most issues have been resolved. Does that mean a new update will be released?

This thread is for 2.0.1
2.0.2 has been out for several weeks and 2.0.3 is about to come out as well - though there are very few fixes. I am just waiting on a couple more feedback points to try and roll a couple more fixes up into the release.
There is a German version of GAL coming out but I dont think there is one for GARS yet.

Many thanks! I'll wait for 2.0.3 then. Will we receive an update by email?

Ratings are not "taking" for me. When I edit a reply, my rating shows correctly in the 4 boxes I have defined. But the article says "Rated by 1 user 0%" (should be 100%). The box next to my own comment also says "Member ratings: 0%".

Edit: Clicking "Re-sync ratings" in the admincp recalculated the ratings but the articles still display 0%.

How are the ratings for that type configured? ie. are the authors ratings combined with the members?

:o I must admit I have no idea what you're asking. Maybe I need to learn this from scratch again...

Still no luck. I have NEVER been able to get the ratings work, all the way back to GARS 1. :(
The Geek

Well, if you are not sure how they are configured then you may have problems setting it up. Look in the type settings under the ratings section to find out how it is configured.
Looks like a great very flexible product. :)
Unfortunately I don't have GD2 installed with php (using imagemagick as it produces much nicer pictures and support more filetypes).
Is there a plan for imagemagick support in GARS ?
(Vbulletin, Vbadvanced, Photopost and VbGallery already has a built in support for IM.)
The Geek

Not currently. This is actually the first time anyone has asked for the support :)

Thanks for the fast response. To bad :(
I know many VB users switched to IM because of the quality.
Also here's a thread: http://www.thevbgeek.com/showthread.php?t=1170
My situation is special...I simply can't get GD2 support for php 5.2 on my 64 bit RHEL servers because of bad cpanel easyapache script (nor from source). It doesn't compile.
Thanks anyway :)

Geek, for some reason it is working now. :D Maybe a cosmic ray hit our server and set things straight.

Anyway...I bought one license today... :)
