View Full Version : Top Rated Module

Basically, this is a simple version of the Top x Module that comes with GARS, however it lets you sort based on Author or Member ratings. It also shows neat little stars with it as well.

Before you post, please note that I only had 2 entries in the forum where I took the screen shot (hence why it says top 5 but there are only 2)

There are no templates or phrases or anything, just upload the files and use the GARS importer to import the xml. Then you can add the module to any set you fancy and configure it accordingly.

Use this (http://www.thevbgeek.com/showthread.php?p=28511) version instead!

Thanks for that, there's no gars/mods/edit/toprating.php file is that ok?

After I upload files, import xml and add module to module set, i do not get the top rated module visible. Is there more I need to do?

Did you set up the modules settings?

I think I do, but I'm not quite sure what you mean. Please explain.

When you add the module to a module set, you can then 'edit' the module which is where you set up its distinct settings for that type.

Yes, I did.
I have it working now. Must be a setting a didn't configure right before. Only now it doesn't show it correctly. It actually shows one of the lowest rated as the top rated. Do you have any idea how this can be?

The Geek

is it a setting?

Alfa1

Maybe, but cant find where. I just found out that the module displays the worst rated as highest rated. Any idea where to change that?

Hey Alfa - just started looking into this again and it does look like it is no longer pulling accurately. Let me see if I can get to it today.

Ah, great. I was running around in circles to find the correct setting.

Did anyone find a solution for this to rank correctly?

Is there an update on this? Is this fixed with the latest version or do you have an ETA on the fix? It looks rather silly at my forum to have some of the worst rated ranked as the best. People make costly decisions based on it.

Sorry I havent spent any more time on this - however it isnt a core product, only a beta add on. I doubt it would take more than 15 mins to do - Its just that I am focusing on the core products right now.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Geek,

If you have time to look into this I'd be very happy. My vendor rating system looks broken for the time being.

Anyone found the answer to this?

Well, I think I fixed the display order issue, but radomly displayed results are most likely because there are no settings for the module (edit the modules settings by selecting edit from its drop down menu once it is placed in a module set).

FWIW, the only file I changed is geek/gars/mods/display/toprated.php

Still doesn't work for me. Am I missing something?
I downloaded the zip. Uploaded the file you mention. Added the module to the set and then edited the module from the drop down.

THats right, what is/isnt working for you. BTW: This module caches the results so you may be dealing with an old cache). Clean your cache to make sure.

Hello Geek and all,

I think I found a bug in this add on. The positions of the reviewed products wont change even when product A surpasses product B (product B gets better recent reviews). The stars are OK though, but the placement wont change.

Regards,

EDIT: see image to see what im talking about. The first one has 3 starts while the second one has 4 stars.

I am assuming you are using the latest version? I thought that was fixed about 3 weeks ago?

Nope. That didn't fix it for me:

Hello Geek,

Im not sure exactly what do you mean by "rebuild your ratings"?

Create a new set of rating or Re-sync ratings?

Thanks

The Geek

re-sync :D

Hi Geek,

Is it possible to get this to work properly please? I have same problem that is described in this thread - order is not correct. Re-sync doesn't do the trick :-(.

I was really happy in the first place when I saw this new module, becouse I have use for it, but it just doesn't work as it was supposed.
